Força: giving strength to families in and around Lymington
Força was created in 2011 to help a dear friend living with cancer. What started as a group of friends rallying round to help look after children and cook meals whilst the exhaustion of chemotherapy took its toll soon grew to be much, much more.
In December 2014 the Força team was delighted to become a UK Registered Charity, Força Strength Against Cancer. The team of volunteers has grown, along with the support given by the local community and the number of people that the charity is now able to assist.
Over the past year, the Força team have provided individual support to a number of local families. The support has been tailored precisely to the needs of the individual and their family. In some cases donations have been made for individuals to receive important alternative therapies to complement their treatment that would otherwise be unaffordable.
Support has also been given to help local families living with cancer to create happy memories. “Living with cancer can bring so much stress on family life,” shares Frauke Taylor, chair of Força Strength Against Cancer. “Uncertainty, tiredness, often reduced income and in many cases being tied to a strict treatment schedule. We have been delighted to help a number of families take a fun day out, with the aim of helping them to create happy memories and a sense of normality for their children.”
If you know of a local family living with cancer that would benefit from a little Força strength, please do get in touch.
