Demand equality in breast cancer care!

The National Audit of Breast Cancer in Older Patients (NABCOP) works to improve the quality of hospital care for older women with breast cancer in the UK. The 2022 NABCOP annual report* looks at the impact of age on treatment and outcomes for patients aged 50+ and highlights unexplained differences and variations in the care of older patients with breast cancer. For example, women over 70 years of age are less likely to undergo surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy than women aged 50 to 69.

força is delighted to have contributed to the report (Carla sits on the panel as a Patient Representative) and urges patients to empower themselves. Demand equality in breast cancer care, regardless of age! Patients can use the guide below to ask important questions along the cancer care pathway. This two page guide can be taken along to your appointment so that you can ask questions about your cancer care.

*The NABCOP annual report is a collaboration between the Association of Breast Surgery (ABS) and the Clinical Effectiveness Unit (CEU) of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS), and was commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) as part of the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP), which means it is super credible!
