Veg out people!
We all know veggies are good for us. But some are more beneficial than others due to their high content of carotenoids; they act as antioxidents, inhibiting cancer cell growth and improving the immune response.
Think colours: the more red, orange, yellow, dark green vegetables (and fruit) you can get on your plate, the better!
Plant sources of cartenoids include:
Fruits: Apricots, cantaloupe, citrus fruits, nectarines, papayas, peaches, watermelon
Vegetables: Bok choy, broccoli, carrots, corn, greens (collards, kale, lettuce, spinach), pumpkin, red peppers, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and tomato products, winter squash
The American Institute for Cancer Research found "When comparing the women who measured the highest versus the lowest blood levels, those with the highest levels of total carotenoids linked to almost 20 percent lower breast cancer risk."
So it's simple - veg out! Prevention is the best cure....
