An evening to celebrate life - 15 years of força

On Thursday, 1st October 2026, we will be holding a special celebration at Lymington Town Sailing Club to mark 15 years of our charity, força strength against cancer - and importantly, 15 years of our wonderful inspiration, Carla, fighting and living with cancer.

An evening to celebrate life: 15 years of força will kick off with drinks from 7pm, followed at around 8pm by a Wellbeing discussion - not just celebrating life, but focusing on how to live our best lives.

We are delighted to be welcoming an informal panel, who will give you the opportunity to ask questions and start discussions about living well - including nutrition, fitness, rehabilitation and much more.

Tickets are limited and now available - pay what you can. All donations will go directly to our charity, enabling us to support more people in Hampshire and Dorset who are living with cancer. We are all volunteers.

We look forward to seeing you!

Meet our discussion team...

From 8pm, our Wellbeing discussion will focus on the ways in which we can all live our best lives.

Nicky Osborne

Nicky is a local GP with a passion for supporting people to optimise their own health, energy and performance at transition points, new diagnoses of disease and beyond. She has a background working in elite sport and rehabilitation, with an interest in health coaching and lifestyle medicine.

"What fuel do we need, how can we best rest and recover, and what matters most to pay attention to now?"

Kim King

Kim is a personal trainer with specialist training in cancer recovery.

"On May 23 this year, Dr Burke, who is 50, summited Everest. She is living with stage 4 breast cancer and has undergone extensive treatment, including chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiotherapy and liver surgery. But you do not have to be an Olympian - or summit Everest - to benefit from exercise. It can be as simple as walking for 30 minutes a day.

"Exercise is something I am really passionate about. I regularly swim, cycle and run - mostly as an excuse to catch up with friends and family, and to stop at a cafe for a coffee and a cake! I will be speaking in more detail about the benefits of exercise and sharing some fun, easy ways to stay active before, during and after a cancer diagnosis."

Annie Winter

Annie is a BANT and CNHC-registered Nutritionist and Nutritional Therapist who helps people cut through the confusion around healthy eating and build realistic habits that support long-term health. Passionate about preventative healthcare, Annie specialises in translating nutrition science into practical, everyday advice that people can actually enjoy and stick to.

"I will explore the lifestyle habits linked with living a longer, healthier life, sharing evidence-based strategies to boost wellbeing, reduce the risk of chronic disease, and add more healthy years to life—without giving up all the foods you love."

Carla Whitbread

Carla is a metastatic breast cancer patient advocate and passionate campaigner for improving the quality of life of people living with and beyond cancer. Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2011 at the age of 37, Carla has spent the past 15 years using her lived experience to influence cancer services, raise awareness, and support patients and their families.

As an ambassador of força – strength against cancer, Carla has supported the charity's work across its Nourish, Support, and Strength projects, reaching hundreds of people affected by cancer in the local community.

Carla will share her personal journey, reflections on living well with cancer, and practical insights into maintaining wellbeing, resilience, purpose, and joy in the face of life's challenges. Her message is one of hope, celebrating life, community, and the power of support.

Manley Hopkinson

Manley is an explorer, author, accomplished keynote speaker, director, senior advisor and the leading voice in the field of Compassionate Leadership. His strength lies in creating and developing the transformational leadership behaviours which lead to commitment, engagement and ultimately performance.

Manley will lead our discussion panel.
